název: On visual perception and its application to validation and optimization of image processing methods
přednášející: Jiří Filip (UTIA)
místo konání: UTIA, 4.patro, místnost č.474

souhrn: The talk will give overview of methods of visual perception and their application to image processing, particularly to texture analysis and compression. The first part will describe and discuss practical properties of perceptually motivated image quality assessment methods such as an empirical structural similarity index metric (SSIM), and a model of a low level human vision - visual difference predictor (VDP).
We will briefly mention also methods of visual saliency. The second part will deal with design and run of psychophysical studies on group of human subjects, which is a useful validation and optimization tool of image processing methods. Possible ways of subjects' responses and gaze data collection and analysis will be discussed as well.
All presented techniques will be accompanied by an their exemplar application in texture appearance analysis and data compression.
